Marsaxlokk defeat Hamrun in five-goal thriller

Marsaxlokk kept their chances alive to secure a place in the Championship Pool as they defeated Hamrun Spartans 3-2.

Hamrun took the lead on the 15^th  minute when they were awarded a penalty after Florent Raimy fouled Marcelo Pereira in the area. Dene Shields converted the penalty to give Hamrun the advantage.

Marsaxlokk had to wait till the 65^th  minute to score the equaliser. A great freekick from Martin Deanov hit the woodwork, Florent Raimy picked up the rebound to level to score.

Marsaxlokk did not wait long to take the advantage as just after two minutes Ruben Guerreiro Gravata beat goalkeeper Omar Borg to make it 2-1.

On the 74^th  minute Hamrun were back in the match after they levelled the score. Dyson Falzon served Gaitan Spiteri who made no mistake and beat goalkeeper Reuben Gauci.

Marsaxlokk pressed for the advantage and just four minutes later Trevor Templeman scored the goal that gave Marsaxlokk the important three points.
