Rafael Benitez candidate to be new Juventus coach
Former Inter coach Rafael Benitez could be returning to Italy as the coach of Juventus according to The Mirror.
Benitez left Inter after winning the FIFA Club World Cup last December.
The Spanish coach had a hard time adjusting to the pressures of being the coach of the Italian and European champions.
Benitez’s comments on Inter not keeping their pre-season promises cost him his job. Inter president Massimo Moratti could not see the team going forward with the Spanish coach as it was reported that he also lost the support of the players.
Massimo Moratti quickly replaced him with former Milan coach Leonardo.
After reports that Benitez could possibly be linked to a return to Liverpool, it is now being reported that he is being lined up to replace under-fire Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri.
Juventus have started the second part of the season on a bad note with a string of negative results. Their chances of winning the Scudetto are very slim as Milan, Inter and Roma are showing their dominance.
Juventus were very close to signing the Spanish coach at the beginning of the season, but the deal did not materalise.
If Juventus give Benitez the power he would like at a team, he could possibly be the new coach of Juventus.
