Inter and Napoli win as Milan are held by Genoa
Inter and Napoli both win to reduce the gap on Italian Serie A League leaders Milan.
Milan and Genoa shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. This is not the result Milan wanted as Napoli are now only three points behind the League leaders. Inter follow just five points behind with a game in hand still to play against Fiorentina.
Pato put Milan ahead on the 29th minute. Genoa’s Antonio Floro Flores scored the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
Napoli kept their momentum going as they defeated Cesena 2-0.
Edinson Cavani put Napoli ahead with Jose Ernesto Soso scoring in injury time to secure all three points.
Inter showed they are back on track to challenge for the Scudetto as they defeated Roma in eight goal thriller that ended 5-3.
Wesley Sneijder put Inter ahead just three minutes into the match.
Roma immediately scored the equaliser thanks to Fabio Simplicio.
Samuel Eto’o put Inter ahead again 10 minutes into the second half.
Roma were reduced to ten-men after Nicolas Burdisso brought down Pazzini in the area.
Inter doubled the score again thanks to a penalty. Samuel Eto’o converted to make it 3-1.
Thiago Motta added more misery to Roma as his header found the back of the net to make it 4-1.
It was not over for Roma as immediately they made it 4-3 thanks to goals from Mirko Vucinic and Simone Loria.
Roma were on the attack and started to find cracks in Inter’s defence, but Esteban Cambiasso put the match out of reach on the last minute as he scored to make the final score 5-3.
Lazio were held to a 1-1 score by Chievo. This result sees Lazio drop to fourth place in the standings.
Hernanes put Lazio ahead with a great free-kick just before half-time but Chievo were back into the match thanks to Bostjan Cesar.
Struggling Catania were defeated 1-0 by bottom dwellers Bologna.
Palermo defeated Lecce 4-2. Lecce took the lead thanks to Guillermo Giacomazzi and Jeda. But Palermo showed their strength and levelled matters with goals from Fabrizio Miccoli and Javier Pastore. Palermo substitutes Abel Hernandez and Josip Ilicic then put the match out of reach for Lecce with their goals.
Brescia defeated Bari 2-0 in a battle to climb out of the relegation zone.
Fiorentina and Parma had to share the spoils in a match that ended 1-1.
Amauri was happy to get back to scoring after he found the back of the net for Parma on the 15th minute, but Gaetano D’Agostino cancelled out Amauri’s goal early in the second half to deny them the win.
