Marsaxlokk leave it late to secure important point
Marsaxlokk and Qormi played to a 2-2 draw yesterday afternoon.

With this result Marsaxlokk will join Hamrun, Valletta, Tarxien, Floriana and Birkirkara in the Championship Pool.
Qormi took the lead on the 22nd minute when Jonathan Bondin beat Marsaxlokk goalkeeper with his tricky shot.
On the 69th minute, Marsaxlokk scored the equaliser thanks to a goal from the penalty spot. Alfred Effiong was brought down by Qormi’s goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia. The referee sent off the Qormi goalkeeper. Ruben Guerreiro made no mistake converting the penalty to make it 1-1.
The action did not stop in added time.
Qormi regained the lead when Joseph Farrugia’s shot beat goalkeeper Reuben Gauci.
Then in the final seconds, Marsaxlokk scored the goal that would keep them in the Championship pool.
Peter Pullicino’s shot hit the crossbar, with substitute Julio Alcorse picking up the rebound to score the all important goal for Marsaxlokk.
The match ended 2-2 with Qormi being condemned to the Relegation pool.
