BOV Premier League | Balzan 2 – Hibernians 2
Hibernians lost two important points as they shared the spoils with Balzan in a 2-2 draw.
Balzan forged ahead on the 26th minute. From a free-kick, Carlos Eduardo De Fiori Mendes delivered the ball towards Andrija Majdevac whose close range effort was blocked by Andrew Hogg. Alfred Effiong took the rebound and slotted the ball inside the net.
Balzan were unlucky not to score again on the 44th minute. Alex Da Paixo Alves unleashed a powerful shot that stamped off the post.
However, Hibernians equalised a minute later. Elkin Serrano Valero brought down Taylon Nicolas Correa Marcolino inside the penalty area and the referee pointed towards the spot. Marcolino stepped up and converted.
Balzan regained the lead on the 72nd minute. Ivan Bozovic’s cross from the right was met by Majdevac and the latter finished home.
The Paolites hit back and equalised again on the 76th minute. Marcolino received a through ball from Tiago Adan Fonseca and placed the ball past Steve Sultana.
Sanderra’s men lost a golden opportunity to clinch the three points on the 39th minute. Serrano Valero handled the ball inside the penalty area and the referee awarded Hibs another penalty. Serrano Valero was also given his marching orders after being shown his second yellow card of the match. However, Marcolino’s effort from the eleven metres mark sailed wide.
