Manchester City suspend Kolo Toure after he tests positive during FA drugs test

Manchester City has suspended defender Kolo Toure after he tested positive for a ‘specified substance’.

Toure failed a test conducted by the FA. Due to Toure’s positive result on the test, the 29-year-old is not permitted by the club to take part in any first-team or reserve matches until a legal process has been resolved.

A brief statement was released by Manchester City: "Manchester City confirm that the FA has informed Kolo Toure that an ‘A-sample’ provided by him has tested positive for a specified substance," said a statement on the club's official website.

"As result of this, he has been suspended from participating in all first team and non-first team matches pending the outcome of the legal process.

"There will be no further comment from the football club at this stage."
