BOV Premier League | Qormi 2 – Sliema Wanderers 3
Sliema returned to winning ways as they secured a 3-2 win over struggling Qormi.
Qormi forged ahead after 11 minutes. Wellington de Oliveira fired a powerful drive from distance that stunned Timothy Aquilina.
The Wanderers equalised five minutes later. Mark Scerri served Matias Muchardi and the latter placed the ball past David Cassar.
Sliema made the score 2-1 on the 22nd minute. Jonathan Pearson’s thumping shot from distance ended up inside the net.
Qormi drew level one minute prior to half-time. Mano Micallef’s delivery from a corner was met by Davide Mansi who headed the ball home.
However, Sliema scored the winning goal on the 62nd minute. Alex Muscat’s close range effort went behing Aquilina.
Following this result, Sliema can keep on believing that they can secure a place inside the Europa League. On the other hand, things are becoming more complicated for Qormi.
