Hibernians leave it late to defeat Qormi

Hibernians defeated Qormi 4-3 to edge closer in securing their chances to play in the Premier League next season.

Qormi looked to have the match in the bag but Hibernians made a late comeback and scored three goals in the final minutes of the match to shock Qormi.

Qormi went in front on the 16th  minute. Cleavon Frendo set up Michael Mifsud who then advanced into the area and beat Hibernians goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his low shot.

Qormi doubled the score on the 55th  minute. Cleavon Frendo’s freekick beat Mario Muscat to make it 2-0.

Hibernians immediately pressed for a goal after being two goals down.

Finally on the 72nd   minuite, Hibernians were back in the match. Christos Karamanolis handled the ball in the area and Hibernians were awarded a penalty. Abdelilah Taki beat goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia to make it 2-1.

On the 84th  minute Michael Mifsud gave Qormi their two goal cushion back after he dribbled past a defender to then release his powerful shot.

Hibernians were awarded another penalty just two minutes after Michael Mifsud’s goal. This time Paul McManus converted to make it 3-2.

Hibernians were now back in the game when they scored the equaliser in added time. Richie Hart’s long distance shot beat Qormi goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.

Andrew Cohen scored the winner for Hibernians in the final seconds of the match. Edward Herrera had his powerful shot partially saved by goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia. Andrew Cohen picked up the rebound and made no mistake by scoring the winning goal.
