Brescia dent Inter’s title hopes

Andrea Caracciolo’s goal late in the second half prevented Inter from closing in on Seria A leaders Milan.

Inter were close to losing the match when Brescia were awarded a penalty but goalkeeper Julio Cesar kept Caracciolo’s shot out of the net.

Inter went in front thanks to a goal from Samuel Eto’o. On the 18th  minute off a Wesley Sneijder’s corner kick, Andrew Ranocchia headed towards Eto’o who then had no problem tapping the ball in.

Inter had numerous chances to extend their lead, and the failed opportunities would cost them dearly in the final stages of the match.

A costly mistake from Inter defender Cordoba helped Brescia level matters.

Off a Alessandro Diamanti corner, Cordoba headed the ball back into the area allowing Caracciolo to score the goal for Brescia.

Five minutes later, it was Cordoba again who brought down Caracciolo inside the area and was sent off. Brescia were awarded a penalty, but Julio Cesar was in top form to prevent Brescia from taking a shock lead.

Inter were left to regret the missed scoring opportunities that would of enabled them to close in on city rivals Milan.

Next week Inter travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich. Inter go into the match a goal down and have their work cut out for them against Bayern Munich who will definitely try to protect their one goal cushion.

Milan host Bari early Sunday afternoon at the San Siro. If Milan defeat Bari, they will move seven points clear in the Serie A standings.
