Premier League title up for grabs as Arsenal defeat United
Manchester United were thrown into crisis today as they were defeated by Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
This defeat blows the title race wide open as United now have only a three-point lead over Chelsea. United and Chelsea will meet at Old Trafford on May 8 in what will be a title decider.
Arsenal held the initiative during most of the match.
Arsenal then found the back of the net on the hour mark. Some magic from Van Persie created some room for Aaron Ramsey who then slotted the ball in past United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
A late foul on Michael Owen saw penalty appeals waved away by referee Chris Foy.
In other matches, Manchester City kept their Champions League qualification dreams alive as the defeated West Ham 2-1.
Liverpool defeated Newcastle 3-0 at Anfield to move ahead of Tottenham and into an Automatic qualifying place for the UEFA Europa League.
Finally Wolves remain in the relegation zone after they blew a one goal lead to draw with Birmingham 1-1.
