Valletta remain unbeaten to take home 20th title

Out of twenty-eight matches, Valletta won eighteen and ended ten games in draws.

Valletta gave their fans what they wanted when they went ahead on the 14^th minute after they were awarded a penalty. Lee Galea fouled Terence Scerri inside the area to have referee Paul Caruana point to the penalty spot.

Terence Scerri made no mistake from the penalty spot to give Valletta the lead.

Tarxien scored the equaliser five minutes before the end of the first half. Off a cross by Julian Vella, Ricardo Costa headed the ball in past goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.

The joy of equalising did not last long for Tarxien as Valletta restored the lead just one minute later. Kevin Sammut setup Edmond Agius who then shot past goalkeeper David Cassar.

Just two minutes into the second half, Tarxien Rainbows levelled the score again to make it 2-2. Daniel Mariano Bueno headed Justin Grioli’s cross in past goalkeeper Andrew Hogg.

After the final whistle, Valletta captain Gilbert Agius gave what the crown wanted when he lifted the BOV Championship trophy given to him by MFA President Norman Darmanin Demajo.
