Milan win Scudetto
Palermo defeat Bari 2-1 in earlier match.
AC Milan played to a goalless draw against Roma yesterday evening to seal their 18th Scudetto.
Milan only needed one point from this match to mathematically seal the Scudetto.
It is their first Serie A title since 2004 as they dethroned city rivals Inter from their long reign as champions of Italy.
Roma were desperate to win this match to keep alive their chances for Champions League football next season.
Roma are now in fifth place and level on points with city rivals Lazio with 60 points who are in fourth place with a game in hand.
Roma were the better side in the first half, but as the match was nearing its end, the Milan players could already see the Scudetto celebrations starting and closed up in front of their net to deny Roma any chance of scoring.
In the earlier match Palermo defeated Bari 2-1. Palermo who are in contention to make it to the Coppa Italia final could not have got a better result.
Simone Bentivoglio put the already relegated Bari side in front, but Fabrizio Miccoli and Cesare Bovo scored to give Palermo a 2-1 victory.
Palermo coach Delio Rossi rested several players to prepare to host Milan for their Coppa Italia second leg tie. In their last match against Milan, Palermo registered a 2-2 draw away at the San Siro giving them a slight advantage on away goals going into the second leg.
