Jacques Mizzi 13th fastest at Thruxton

This was the first time that Jacques was racing at Thruxton, and so a lap in 1 minute 28.811 seconds in the 5th lap at 95.48 miles per hour was a very good time in the circumstances. Unfortunately, no times were recorded for the first free practice session of this official test because he did not have a transponder.

For timing and testing purposes, Thruxton was again divided into two sectors. The first sector was 2.247 km long. In this sector Jacques recorded the 13th best speed at 115.5 mph. At the Finish line, Jacques registered the 5th best speed at 90.9 mph. This means that Jacques' performance was quite competitive against several more experienced drivers.

The best time in the first sector was 53.537 seconds - the 12th best time; whereas his best time in the second sector was 35.210 seconds, was the 15th best time. So Jacques could have had an ideal combined best time of 1 minute 28.747 seconds, had the best time in each sector happened in the same lap. This data is courtesy of Timing Solutions Ltd.

With every official test session Jacques is gaining more experience and more confidence. These tests are very useful because they provide Jacques the opportunity to learn the different circuits before the actual race. All the other drivers of course get a similar opportunity to improve themselves.

Donington

This weekend's 2 races take place at the Donington Park National Circuit. At 11.20 am on Saturday, 20th April, Jacques has his 30 minute qualifying session. Hopefully, he gets a good starting position on the grid. The first 14-lap Renault UK Clio Cup race starts at 17.05 hours, UK time.

On Sunday at 13.35 hours Jacques has his second 14-lap race of Round 2 of this Championship. He is looking forward to improve on the result he achieved at Brands Hatch and move one or two positions in the championship table. This is not going to be easy, but it is within his capability.

The 3.149 km (1.957 miles) Donington National is not an easy circuit with a series of curves and corners and an esses - Fogarty. There are also two hairpins - Melbourne and Goddards - but these are normally used in the GP Circuit configuration only. Precision braking and acceleration, and clipping the apex of each corner at the right place makes all the difference between gaining precious fractions of a second or losing positions to more experienced drivers.
