Double points system not a major change - Todt
According to FIA president Jean Todt the double point system that will be introduced next season at the final Grand Prix is not a major change really. The Frenchman does not understand what all the fuss is about.
Last week the FIA announced that at the final Grand Prix of the season, which is Abu Dhabi in 2014, drivers and teams will receive twice the number of points they would normally receive in a race.
A lot of prominent persons within Formula 1 have questioned the new rule but according to FIA president Jean Todt it isn't a big deal really. “A lot has been said about the new point rules but it isn't really a big change to be honest,” Todt told Spanish newspaper AS. “I believe it is far more important to talk about the reduction of costs in Formula 1.
We will be saving 40% fuel because of the new engine. A new point system is a very small change in the rules, but nothing more than that so I really do not understand why all these people are talking so much about such a little change in the sport.”
