Williams to run special Senna logo
A picture of Ayrton Senna will feature on the side of Williams cars for the 2014 season as Formula 1 marks the 20th anniversary of his death.
Following the Brazilian's tragic death at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, the Grove-based outfit has placed the iconic Senna double S logo on the front wing struts of every Formula 1 car it has designed as a mark of respect.
This season, a new logo – designed by the Ayrton Senna Foundation – will feature on the left-hand side of the FW36's nose, including a picture of Ayrton next to the words "Ayrton Senna Sempre", Portuguese for "Always".
"I was very close to Ayrton and the iconic double S logo has been a mainstay on our cars since his death 20 years ago," commented Williams Founder and Team Principal Sir Frank Williams.
"This new logo is our way of celebrating his achievements as a racing driver, and also the sterling work of his Foundation which is doing so much to promote educational opportunities in Brazil."
