Peugeot 308 is Car of the Year 2014

he Peugeot 308 was voted Car of the Year at the International Geneva Motor Show, by a clear advantage over its competitors BMW i3, Citroën C4 Picasso, Mazda 3, Mercedes Classe S, Skoda Octavia and Tesla Model S.
After intensive test drives, the Jury’s decision was final. The sedan by the French manufacturer was chosen for its general balance and versatility.
Peugeot’s CEO Maxime Picat received the prestigious award from Hakan Matson, President of the panel of International Automobile Experts
Addressing the press, Matson, explained how the Peugeot 308 gives a preview of the enormous potential that traditional power trains still have. “The winner impresses by its weight reduction and its space management as well as the performance of its combustion engines. The Peugeot 308 also sets new standards in terms of interior space, is light-flooded, comfortable and ergonomic.”
58 car journalists from 22 European countries sat on the jury. Seven finalists were chosen from 30 cars before in-depth testing was conducted on the finalists. The cars were judged on innovation, safety, design and quality. Environmental and consumption aspects are also taken into consideration.
This is the third time that the Car Of The Year award was hosted at the International Geneva Motor Show. The award was initially launched by seven car magazines from seven European countries - France (L'Automobile), Italy (Auto), Spain (Autopista), Great Britain (Autocar), The Netherlands (Autovisie), Germany (stern) and Sweden (Vi Bilägare). It is coveted by all car manufacturers and considered to be the most prestigious and desirable car award in the world.
