'Megaphone' exhaust didn't change anything - Nico Rosberg
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg says that alterations to the exhaust of the W05 Hybrid in a bid to increase the noise levels were not successful during the in-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Rosberg was second quickest but trialled a 'megaphone' exhaust during the first part of the morning session.
Trackside observers, including GPUpdate.net, did not notice any audible increase in noise levels and Rosberg echoed such thoughts.
"Unfortunately it didn't change anything, so we need to keep pushing – we want to as a team make the sport louder and to keep pushing and to try another solution as this was not the right solution," he said.
The German revealed that he spent much of the day focusing on improving his feeling with the brakes, which he regards as one of his primary weaknesses.
"[The] programme was brakes, an area where I'm not feeling too comfortable – just working around doing different solutions, a lot of different findings on there," he said. "It's so valuable a day like this. During the race weekend you can never do anything as not one run is the same as the next. On a day like this everything is the same – you can just learn so much. Brakes is the area for me where I'm not 100% happy yet [so] I'm working on it."
