Thor Hushovd wins second stage of Tour de France

Norway's Thor Hushovd rode into the yellow jersey as his Garmin-Cervelo team won the team time-trial in stage two of the Tour de France.

The American outfit lived up to their status as pre-stage favourites, blazed around the 23-kilometre course in Les Essarts in a time of 24 minutes and 48 seconds, 0:04 ahead of Cadel Evans' BMC squad, with British outfit Team Sky just a fraction of a second further back in third.

Having finished third in Saturday's opening stage, Hushovd now claims the yellow jersey from Philippe Gilbert, whose Omega Pharma-Lotto squad finished in tenth position, 39 seconds off the pace.
