Taekwondo Dragon Club grading examinations
On Saturday 5th November the Taekwondo Dragon Club held its last grading examinations for this year.
All eligible candidates formed part of the Mosta branch and their ages varied between 7 and 34 years old, with levels ranging from Yellow belt (8th Kup) up to Red belt (2nd Kup). In all, there were 11 candidates and the grading lasted over 2 hours. All candidates made it successfully for their respective new rank as follows:

On Saturday 29 October the club held its annual Gozo training camp that at the Gozo Sports Complex in Victoria. For this event three other martial art styles were invited to participate: Tang Soo Do lead by Sabomnim Ian Wallace, Spirit Combat by Sensei Mario Saliba and Jeet Kune Do concepts and Penckat Silat by Sifu Darren Briffa. The event started at 10:00 am and lasted till 03:00 pm. To conclude the event all participants were invited to join a Zumba class conducted by Maria and Pedro. This edition of the training camp was the biggest ever with almost 70 participants.
Earlier during the month of October, Sabomnim Formosa participated in a project about obesity held in Sivas, Turkey. Sabomnim Formosa was selected from a number of other candidates who had followed a fitness course with a local company. During this project the whole team had to give several presentations concerning obesity in Malta, cultural cuisine and Maltese culture. Sabomnim Formosa had the opportunity to conduct a basic Taekwondo class to some of the participants. The project was co-funded by the EU.
Later next month Sabomnim Formosa is going to London to take a Diploma course in Studio Instruction. Sabomnim Formosa holds the highest Taekwondo rank in Malta and is a qualified gym and fitness instructor.
In January 2012 Taekwondo Dragon Club is moving from Mosta to its new head quarters in St.Venera and should soon be operating throughout the day with several fitness and martial art activities.
