The Malta Karate Federation - Black Belt Achievements 2011

Throughout 2011 The Malta Karate Federation (MKF) held a number of Black Belt (Dan) gradings for its members

The members have succeeded to achieve the following rank: Karl Anastasi (3rd Dan), Kenneth Abela (3rd Dan), Joseph Grima (3rd Dan), Keith Falzon (2nd Dan), Dennis Abdilla (2nd Dan), Francesco Debatista (1st Dan), Darren Mifsud (1st Dan), Darren Bezzina (1st Dan), Mario Micallef (1st Dan) and Paul Falzon (1st Dan).

The panel of examiners was made up of four members of the MKF's Technical Board, namely Sensei James Galea (5th Dan Black Belt), Sensei Anthony Zammit (5th Dan Black Belt), Sensei Jason Edwards (4th Dan Black Belt) and Sensei Edward Aquilina (4th Dan Black Belt). The karatekas were examined on all the technical and practical aspects of Karate. These are Kihon (basics), Kata and Kumite (sparring).The new Black Belts have been training at the M.K.F for a considerable number of years.

In a brief address, the Technical Board told the successful candidates that they should be very proud of their achievement, which truly marks a milestone in their karate career. They also encouraged them to further their knowledge of Karate on a practical and theoretical basis.

The M.K.F, the only karate organisation in Malta directly affiliated to the World Karate Federation has six clubs spread around the island, with another one to be opened in San Gwann in January 2012. It is also affiliated to the Maltese Olympic Committee and the Malta Sports Council.
