The students have been undergoing intensive training so to manage their grading together with international practitioners training under the WTKA, since new rules by the federation state that all schools have to complete grading within the same weekend internationally.

This has been the 3rd session of up-level gradings to be held at the school since Trainer & National Director of KMM  Keith Galea, opened the doors to Krav Maga on the island almost two years ago. The following practitioners obtained :

Level 3 - Roman Repovas (Extra Star points for Dedication & Attendance),Luke Borg, Nathaniel Diacono,

Level 2 - Chris Agius, Donald Scerri

Level1 - Michael Farrugia, Andre' Gatt, Bjorn Demicoli, Hayden Cauchi, Dylan Fabri

The local trainer Keith Galea has been very pleased that the interest in Krav Maga as an art of self defence has reflected the positive trend of other modern western countries, such growth in popularity is due to its practicality and application where student start perceiving the effectiveness of the system at very early stages as compared to other disciplines.

He also stresses out the importance of mentoring practitioners in adopting "street tactics" in their mentality and approach towards training, as this can at times be more important than applying punching & kicking tactics.

In reflection to this trend the school also announces that a project is in the pipeline to expand & improve its training facilities for practitioners, and as an organisation itself.

About Krav Maga Malta

Krav Maga is a modern and practical style of self-defence system. Its origins lie in military combat and are owed to Imi Sde-Or (Lichtenfeld), Israeli Grand-master (1910-1998) who created it in the late 1940s when serving as Chief Instructor for hand to hand combat and combat fitness training for the Israeli Defense Forces. Krav Maga proved effective to the extent that it became the official combative training for all Israeli military personnel, police and security forces. Since then it has been studied, tested, improved and developed extensively so that today Krav Maga techniques are applied in areas such as law enforcement, elite military units, VIP protection and civilian self defence programmes for men, women and children. The aim of practicing Krav Maga is not about being a tough guy or about learning to fight in a ring, but rather about having access to a survival system and to ensure personal safety in the eventuality of having to defend oneself against both armed and unarmed attackers.
