Malta Triathlon Association gets a new look

The recent growth in athlete numbers and participation in Triathlon has led the Association to carry out a branding exercise which reflected the current expansion.

"As our sport is evolving and growing we felt that a branding exercise was required to strengthen the 'Triathlon Malta' brand and creating a better visual for awareness" said Maria Vella-Galea, Public Relations & Marketing Officer. "This branding exercise will be spread over a number of activities and projects, the first being the design of a new logo"

A Logo Design competition was held recently, which encouraged athletes and their friends to give their input into the design of a logo which would be adopted by the Association.

"As an Association we wanted to give our athletes the possibility to give their input focusing on the spirit of our sport as well as giving the logo the Maltese Islands flavour. The Logo Design Competition attracted a good number of quality proposals, which made it quite a task for the Council to decide which logo portrayed our sport the best" continued Maria Vella-Galea.

James Cutajar of Delta Media Services produced the winning design which will be used in all promotional material, events and merchandise going forward. James, commenting on his design, said "The logo represents the spirit of the three sports involved in triathlon and the symbol mostly associated with the Maltese islands, the eight pointed cross. The cross was stylized and modified in a way to portray the motion of triathlon. Three pictograms were also used to represent the three sports encompassed in Triathlon".

The Malta Triathlon Association is also working on developing a new and more interactive website, which will contain up-to-date information on races and events both locally and abroad, as well as allow input from its members. "Our members' enthusiasm does not stop at their interest to race, but also to be involved in the Association and its development. We were pleasantly surprised by the artistic talent that lies within our sport" said Cyprian Dalli, President of the Association.
