Kickboxing association organises grading for students
In September the Malta Kickboxing Association (MKBA) organised another grading for its students. Athletes from three Maltese clubs took part to be examined in their technique and stamina needed for the sport.
The grading was held at the Ying Yang's club premises in Fgura for a total of four hours. The duration of the exam depended on the belt level and it varied from one hour and a half for those going for the Red Belt, to four hours for those going for the Brown Belt. Out of the 31 students that took part 24 of them train under Master Noel Mercieca, the founder of the Ying Yang club.
The students and their respective belts were: Red: Marvin Corrado, Daren Bartolo, Ryan Mizzi, Brian Vella, Claudio Camilleri, Kevin Farrugia, Ruben Magro, Charlo Spiteri, Green: Kurt Zahra, Jean Benetti, Sacha Silvio, Jean Luca Pantalesco, Enzo Comez, Gianella Mifsud, Carson Mifsud, Julian Borg, Luciano Nicolosi, Purple: Rachelle Cutajar, Jason Mifsud, Maurizio Scicluna, Valentina Nicolosi, Blue: Joseph Dimech, James Flores, Brown: Manolita Vella.
This was the first major activity for the Ying Yang club after the summer holidays. Now the club is back on the normal winter training schedule for Kickboxing. Apart from this sport Master Mercieca together with Sensei Charlot Spiteri they are giving lessons in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). From October the club has even started teaching Boxing, and since it is affiliated with the World Kickboxing Network (WKN) the Boxers are eligible to take part in the world renowned Boxing competition Bigger's Better.
