Valletta Subbuteo Club lose qualification on direct encounter
Last weekend Valletta Subbuteo Club participated in the Champions League being organised by the international body Federation of International Sports Table Football which was held in Pireaus, Athens.
The Valletta team managed a joint 4th place in their group together with Italian side Perugia with 6 points. The Italian side Perugia surpassed the Malta team having won the direct encounter against Valletta 3-0 to qualify for the quarter - finals.
In the other group games Valletta won against the Greek sides Atlas who contested the final and Olympia 2-0 and 3-1 respectively while losing to the Austrian team Weiner Neustadt 2-1 and Italian side Pisa 1-0. The group was won by Pisa with 11 pts followed by Atlas & Neustadt both 8 pts Perugia & Valletta 6 pts and Olympia 2 pts. The Champions League winners were the Italian club Fiamme Azzure who beat the Greek side Atlas 3-1 in the final.
