Marsa C.C host Milan C.C
Over the weekend starting on Friday evening with a twenty over game, the Marsa C.C took on returning team Milan C.C.
On Friday the Marsa team won the toss and elected to bat. A fantastic innings from Andy Naudi worth forty eight runs including three fours and two sixes propelled the home team to a fine score of 146 runs from the twenty overs. Nowell Khosla (thirty runs) and Joy Ghoseroy (twenty six runs) also contributed. For Milan Sunil was the top wicket taker with two.
In reply Milan were coasting to a victory with Sonu scoring sixty runs, Bhupi twenty eight runs and Sunil twenty one runs. Only needing twenty seven runs from twenty four balls with eight wickets in hand it looked over for the Marsa team. Mike Caruana had other ideas put a stop to the runs and took four wickets in his last two overs which led to the Marsa team winning by twelve runs.
On Saturday the Milan team batted first and this time a fine innings of seventy one runs from Bhupi helped his side to a total of 191 runs. Jonathan scored twenty four runs , while Gautam and Sunil both scored nineteen runs each. For Marsa Andy Lenard and Bikram Arora were the main wicket takers with two each.
In reply only John Grima with sixty runs , seventeen runs from Dave Borg and a late twenty two runs from Ronnie Sacco were the only formidable scores in the run chase. The Marsa team only mustered 147 runs. Sonu was the main wicket taker for Milan while Sunil took two.
The final game on Sunday again had the Milan team batting first. This time Sonu made fifty nine runs, Vicky thirty five runs, Gautam twenty five runs and Ross Gower sixteen runs in an impressive and over whelming score of 200 runs in the thirty five over game. For Marsa Joy Ghoseroy was the main wicket taker with two. Ian Pendlebury had to settle with only one wicket after the previous week had completed a hat trick.
In reply the Marsa team only managed 151 runs with Joy Ghoseroy making forty six runs, Jim Heasman thirty one ruins and Andy Naudi twenty nine runs. For Milan Yogesh was the main wicket taker with two.
Next Saturday the coaching session will be held at the Point Sliema and all are welcome to come and try.
