Ghazliet Sportivi Nazzjonali honours winners with award

For the second consecutive year, The Malta Sports Awards sponsored by Maltco Lotteries Ltd took the opportunity to present the winners of the major categories of the 2014 edition.

Dr.Ioannis Katakis – CEO of Maltco Lotteries Ltd presented the winners with financial reward for their efforts and hard work in their sporting commitments.

Dr.Katakis took the opportunity to praise the successful athletes while also acknowledged the importance of promoting all sporting disciplines being practised in the country in an effort to boost Sport participation in the country.

Dr. Katakis also suggested that the successes achieved by this year’s winners augurs well for the future and is hopeful that more positive results can also be achieved on the International stage.

The athletes presented with an award were the following;

Sportsman of the Year: Claudio Cassar – Black Ball Pool

Sportswoman of the Year: Sue Abela – Ten Pin Bowling

Team of the Year: Malta National Waterpolo Team

Official of the Year: Joseph Cassar – Malta Football Association

Coach of the Year: Karl Izzo – Waterpolo National Coach

Man Youth Athlete of the Year: Nathan Lee Xuereb – Shooting Double Trap

Woman Youth Athlete of the Year: Sara Xuereb – Ten Pin Bowling

The awards were held at Maltco Lotteries Ltd. Head Office in Iklin.
