Ralph Decelis rewarded higher placing at 2010 IFBB European Championships

One of Malta’s top bodybuilders Ralph Decelis has been moved up to 5th place at the 2010 IFBB (International Federation of Body Building) European Championships that took place last May in the Netherlands.

Taking part in the same category, another local favourite Gilbert Zammit was promoted to 9th place. These placings are a great result for the Maltese bodybuilders that represented Malta on the International scene, in such a competitive event.

Decelis’s original placing was 7th out of 12 bodybuilders in the 100kg class. Considered one of the hardest weight group, Decelis and Zammit had to compete with some of the top bodybuilders in Europe. Bodybuilders from Croatia, Poland, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Austria and Turkey took part in this class. Antonio Furic from Croatia won this class.

In the same weekend Ralph Decelis and Blanche Coppola also placed second in the mixed-pairs European championship.

Bodybuilders from Norway and Switzerland were disqualified due to a anti-doping violation.

The IFBB follows strict regulations when it comes to doping. The IFBB regulations fall under the world renowned WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) code.

With these results Malta can look forward to the IFBB Mediterranean Championships that will be taking place in Malta next year. A number of local bodybuilders are already preparing for this event.
