Maltese powerlifters participate in World Championships
Four Maltese athletes have participated in the World Powerlifting Championships 2010 held in Ireland and organised by the World Drug-Free Powerlifting Federation.
Charles Degiorgio, lifting in the under 75kg category, squatted 180kg, bench pressed 110kg and deadlifted 220kg to obtain 4th place out of 12 athletes in his category.
Herman Mula, totalling 500kg, managed an eleventh placing out of 16 athletes in the under 82.5kg category, an encouraging result considering it was his first international appearance.
Kris Mintoff and Josef Spiteri, totalling 575kg and 552.5kg respectively placed an encouraging 3rd and 6th in an under 90kg category consisting of 11 athletes in all. Spiteri managed a 150kg bench press which was the strongest press in the category.
