Former Olimpia Milano coach returns at the age of 75
Dan Peterson returns to Milan after the Olimpia Milano basketball team fired coach Piero Bucchi after a number of poor results this week. Bucchi was in charge of the team since 2008.
The replacement for Piero Bucchi is former coach Dan Peterson. Peterson last coached Olimpia Milano in the 1980’s winning a number of titles with the team and was the key figure to build one of the strongest basketball teams in Europe before he retired in 1987.
In his final year with Olimpia Milano, Peterson’s team won an incredible treble, consisting of the League, Italian Cup and the European Cup titles.
Peterson won four league titles, two Italian Cups, one Korac Cup and a European cup in his nine-year reign.
At the age of 75 Peterson could not refuse the opportunity of returning to his former team.
"I wouldn't have done it for any team other than Olimpia Milano" Dan Peterson told Sportitalia24.
