MCA Winter League comes to an end

On Saturday the MCA Winter league came to an end with the Marsa team putting in their best performance yet. Their victim was the Krishna team.

The Marsa team batted first and even with a bad start losing Ronnie Sacco for a duck and Tony Azzopardi being bowled by an absolutely brilliant ball which he was sure he was safe to leave the ball alone when it nipped back and bowled him, he had scored ten runs.

Frank Spiteri had his best innings of the league and scored forty eight runs from thirty balls including five fours and two sixes. Sarfraz Ali prodded along and scored seventeen runs from twenty nine balls.

Derek Ali played one of his vintage innings and scored thirty five runs from twenty six balls including three fours and two sixes. Robert Krishna remained five runs not out and Javed Shah made fourteen runs.

For Krishna Andy Lenard was top wicket taker with two while Adam Krishna u Darren Grech took a wicket each.

In reply the Krishna team just literally fell apart with only Justin Thorne making it over double figures with sixteen runs and next high score was from Joy Ghoseroy who scored nine. The team totalled a mere and lowest score of the league , that of 42 runs. Three run outs did not help their cause. Sarfraz Ali was the main wicket taker with three, Robert Krishna two wickets , Gordon Hewitt and Pierre Naudi took a wicket each.

The win capped of  a good winter for the Marsa team who only lost one game under the guidance of their captain Ronnie Sacco.
