Another week full of cricket for the Marsa C.C team
New touring team Ram C.C played a three game series while a fourth game was played against Baerum C.C.
On Thursday the first game was played in which the home team batted first in the twenty over game. A fantastic innings by Joy Ghoseroy of sixty two runs, Malcolm Crabbe thirty seven runs and twenty three runs from Andy Naudi helped the score to a healthy 179 runs. Viren was the most successful bowler while Nikesh, Kirat and Niraj all took a wicket each.
Ram replied strongly through the efforts of Kirat (thirty three runs), Sandip (twenty runs) and Sanjay (seventeen runs) but fell short by thirtyt nine runs. For Marsa, George Agius, Gordon Hewitt and Joy Ghoseroy were the main wicket takers taking two each. Marsa go one up in the series.
On Saturday Ram C.C batted first and posted a modest 158 runs from their forty overs. Niraj batted well and scored forty six runs including one six and three fours. Nikesh scored twenty eight runs including two massive sixes.
Raj also chipped in with a patient twenty seven runs. For Marsa Mike Caruana took four wickets and Kevin Krishna took two wickets. In reply the Marsa team failed miserably and fell short by thirty one runs. Nowell Khosla top scored with twenty two runs, Ronnie Sacco seventeen runs and John Grima fifteen runs. For the visitors Dinesh,Nikesh,Veren and Tarrun all took two wicket each. Ram square the series.
On Sunday the home team batted first and after losing a few early wickets, Justin Brooke (fifty runs), Andy Naudi (fifty four runs), Derek Ali (thirty one runs) and Joy Ghoseroy (twenty nine runs) consolidated on the score and the Marsa team totalled a useful 206 runs from their forty overs. For Ram Kirat and Mickey were the most successful bowlers with two wickets each.
In reply Ram through the efforts of Nikesh (forty two runs), Danny (thirty four runs),Mitesh (twenty three runs), Kirat (twenty two runs) and Dinesh (sixteen runs) put up a fantastic run chase but fell short by eleven runs. Joy Ghoseroy was the main wicket taker with four, while George Agius and Andy Lenard took two each. Marsa win the series two to one.
The previous Tuesday Baerum C.C completed a series whitewash against the home team in a nail biting game where the visitors won by the minimal margin of one run.
Next Saturday the Chairman’s team take on the Captain’s team in a twenty over game in preparation for the upcoming tournament which will be held in Belgium.
