Bennett gives Great Britain first Euromed title
Fourteen-year-old Fenella Bennett from the Royal Lymington Yacht Club in Hampshire, won the 2013 Euromed Malta Championship giving Great Britain the first Euromed title in the Event’s 14-years history.

A record entry of 145 participants from ten countries contested this year's Euromed where these were split up into five categories, namely, the Optimist Cadet Class, the Optimist Open Class, the Optimist Novice Class, the Laser Radial Class, and the Laser 4.7 Class.
After 9 races, with 7 to count and 2 were discarded, the final top three winners in each category were:
Optimist Cadet Class (38 Entries) - 1st Demetrio Sposato (ITA); 2nd Jack Satariano (MLT); 3rd Giorgia Cingolani (ITA)
Optimist Open Class (79 Entries) - 1st Fenella Bennett (GBR); 2nd Onisiphoros Neophytoy (CYP); 3rd Pippa Cropley (GBR)
Optimist Novice Class (9 Entries) - 1st Megan Ferry (MLT); 2nd Neil Farrugia Vella (MLT); 3rd Saul Vassallo (MLT)
Laser Radial Class (7 Entries) - 1st Justin Busuttil (MLT); 2nd Maya Podesta (MLT); 3rd Roberto Briffa (MLT);
Laser 4.7 Class (12 Entries) -1st Semen Sukhno (RUS); 2nd Robbie King (GBR); 3rd Edward Fleri Soler (MLT);
The races of Euromed 2013 were held at Mellieha Bay between Thursday and Saturday. The Seabank Resort+Spa in Mellieha was the Event's official hotel while the Maxima Lido housed the race office and the launching area of the Championship.
The Euromed Malta Championship, now held for the past 14 years, is organised by the Malta Young Sailors Club with the cooperation of the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport and the Mellieħa Local Council.
The Mediterranean Bank was the main sponsor of Euromed 2013 which was held under the patronage of the Malta Sailing Federation.
