Nadal and Murray advance
Rafael Nadal booked his place in the quarter finals of the US Open with a straight sets victory over Gilles Muller on Thursday.
Nadal, who claimed the title last year, came out in a far better frame of mind than when the contest was started in the rain on Wednesday, and only needed a little time to find his feet before reeling off a relatively comfortable and straightforward 7-6(1) 6-1 6-2 triumph. Meanwhile Andy Murray wasted no time in booking his place in the quarter finals of the US Open with a thumping of Donald Young. Just three games were possible in the first two days of their fourth-round match on account of rain, but the weather broke to allow play to take place and Murray stormed to a 6-2 6-3 6-3 win.
