Murray sent crashing out of French Open
Andy Murray lost in straight sets to 15th seed Tomas Berdych in the fourth round of the French Open at Roland Garros. The British number one looked a touch slow in blustery conditions, with the match held up after the first set due to rain. The Scot went into the match against the 15th seed as favourite but he was overwhelmed by Berdych's power in the opening set. Berdych was completely dominant on his own serve, and was bullying Murray with his forehand too. A break in the seventh game was his sole break of the set but he was constantly attacking the Murray serve, with the fourth-seeded Scot looking uncharacteristically sluggish in his movement. Berdych then broke in the first game of the second set as he came back from 40-0 down to win the game, and at that stage, every aspect of his game was looking smooth and powerful. However, the cracks finally started to show in Berdych as the set developed, especially at the net where he has had problems in the past, and a sloppy fourth game in the set saw Murray break back. Three holds of serve followed before the rain came, with Murray looking more confident and holding to love just before the heavens opened. A half-hour delay ensued but there was little change as Berdych attacked his illustrious opponent, coming to the net and hitting more winners as Murray looked increasingly frustrated with his play and the conditions. Berdych was giving him the run-around, breaking him twice in the second - although Murray broke back the first time - and sealing a vital break to go 4-3 up in the third. With Murray serving to stay in the match, a selection of weak shots - including a double fault - allowed Berdych to complete a surprise victory as dusk fell. Berdych will play Russia's Mikhail Youzhny for a place in the semi-finals.
