Matthew Asciak confirmed as BOV Malta Tennis Men’s Masters Champion
Matthew Asciak confirmed his top spot in the local tennis scene by retaining the BOV Malta Tennis Men’s Masters for 2014. In the final, Asciak beat Denzil Agius 6-0, 6-0 for the victory.
Asciak has definitely stamped his authority on this tournament, winning it four out of the five times it has been held since 2010 and missing the 2012 mark due to international commitments. It is to be noted that Asciak dropped only 4 games in the whole tournament cementing himself as Malta’s no.1 player
The final was played at the Gordon Asciak Tennis Academy Indoor Courts at Marsa Sports Club on Sunday 4th January 2015.
John Paul Abela, Manager, Media and Community Relations at Bank of Valletta presented the trophy to Matthew in the presence of David Farrugia Sacco, President of the Malta Tennis Federation.
Congratulating Matthew Asciak and all the participants in the tournament, John Paul Abela said, “As a major supporter of sporting initiatives, it is a pleasure to see such dedication and sportsmanship that was evident throughout the tournament.’
Dr Farrugia Sacco thanked Gordon Asciak for the use of the Gordon Asciak Tennis Academy Indoor courts without which, it would have been impossible to see the tournament through due to the adverse weather conditions. “The level of tennis exhibited at this tournament augurs well for Maltese tennis in both the local and the international scene’
