Emirates sponsor Neptunes in four year deal
Emirates, the internationally renowned award winning airline, signed a sponsorship contract for the next four years with Neptunes Waterpolo and Swimming Club.
As well as supporting the Neptunes Waterpolo and Swimming Club, Emirates is the title sponsor of the team and the agreement will see the Fly Emirates logo prominently displayed on the clothing of Neptunes Emirates.
Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates Manager for Malta and Cyprus, said: “The Emirates-Neptunes partnership echoes Emirates’ long-standing commitment to sports. We are positive that this partnership will be mutually beneficial to Emirates and Neptunes.”
Matthew Bonello, President of Neptunes Waterpolo and Swimming Club, said: “Neptunes are very proud that a company, with worldwide recognition, enjoying the prestige and reputation of Emirates, has chosen to be associated with our club. Whilst expressing our thanks and appreciation for their support and cooperation, we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship throughout the four years of our agreement. Emirates are known to support major sporting events and clubs around the world, and Neptunes are honoured to join the select number of clubs supported by Emirates.”
The Neptunes Waterpolo and Swimming Club was founded in 1929 and is one of Malta’s leading aquatic sports clubs, from which some of Malta’s best swimmers and waterpolo players have emerged. Neptunes is truly a sporting success story, having won the championship and the knock-out for 18 times, amongst other honours.
During this season, Neptunes Emirates is being coached by their ex-player and coach Sergey Markoch assisted by ex-player Tony Camilleri. The squad, captained by Niki Lanzon, includes Nicky Gouder, David Camilleri, Michele Stellini, Bryan Buhagiar, Benji Lanzon, Stevie Camilleri returning to Neptunes after another excellent season with Bogliasco in the Italian first division, Jordan Camilleri, Sean Gravina, Ian Bugeja, Matthew Pisani, Zach Mizzi , Kyle Debattista, and Kurt Micallef. Three other Neptunes players, namely, Ryan Sciortino, Timmy Agius and Gabriel Pace have been loaned to M’Scala for this season.
Neptunes Emirates this year boasts of some top international players. Tamas Molnar is a triple Olympic gold medal winner with Hungary and is being partnered for the first few weeks of the season by another Hungarian international, Miklos Gor-Nagy. Later in the season, Gor-Nagy will make way for Vladimir Vujasinovic, ex-captain of Serbia, who has already played for Neptunes and won the league with them in 2007.
