New President for Sliema Aquatic Sports Club
Sliema Aquatic Sports Club have announced the appointment of Dr Frank Testa as the Club’s new President following Michael Gatt's decision not to stand for re-election beyond this year’s Annual General Meeting.
Testa, a lawyer by profession, born and bred at Sliema Pitch, thanked his predecessor for the sterling service given to the club as well as the club's members and newly elected Committee for the faith shown in him. He underlined that together with his team he will be working relentlessly to return the country’s most successful and decorated club to winning ways, following a somewhat difficult period.
The Club’s Annual General Meeting also saw Michael Gatt being appointed as Honorary President following a unanimous vote among those present, in recognition of a lifetime service to the club in various roles, not least as a player, first team coach and eventually President. Special thanks were also reserved for outgoing Treasurer of 28 years, Mr Malcolm Gatt.
The new committee has already started working in full force in preparation for the long season ahead.
