Sliema ASC appoint Dejan Milakovic
Sliema Frank Salt Real Estate have announced the appointment of Serbian Dejan Milakovic who will be replacing Paul Privitera as first team coach.
In a press release, the Club thanked Paul Privitera for his dedication and sterling service given to the club in recent years both as a player and as coach.
Milakovic joins the blues on the back of an extremely successful season, having won the treble as Igor Milanovic’s assistant at Pro Recco where they won the Champions League, Italian Scudetto as well as the Italian Cup. Milakovic started his career as a player at Partizan Belgrade before moving to rivals Red Star. He featured for Yugoslavia at youth level.
Following his retirement as a player, he started his coaching career with Red Star’s youths and then moved on to another top division Belgrade club, Singidunum, first as a youth coach and ultimately as first team coach, before being picked up by Igor Milanovic to be his right hand man at arguably the best European water polo club at the moment. Prior to his involvement with Recco, Milakovic was also part of the Serbian national team coaching staff at youth and B team level.
He took charge of his first training session on Wednesday together with assistant coach Clint Debono and shall be on the bench for Sliema’s next Premier Division match against Neptunes on Sunday.
