How to get to Notte Bianca stress-free

Some suggestions to help you navigate the annual all-night festival of arts and entertainment taking place across Valletta this Saturday

As thousands are expected to make their way to Valletta on 3 October for the 10th anniversary edition of Notte Bianca, the organisers are urging visitors to opt for public transport options in order to avoid heavy traffic congestion and parking issues.

Below are some suggestions:

BUS

Malta Public Transport would like to announce that a special extended bus service will be organized during Notte Bianca this Saturday 3 October.

The following routes will operate from and to Valletta between 23:00 and 02:00:

In addition, Route 133 will operate a shuttle service around Valletta every 15 minutes between 17:00 and midnight.

Holders of a tallinja card may pay the special night fare of €2.50 with their card. Non-card holders may pay €3.00 in cash on the bus.

Gozo Channel

Gozo Channel will provide a special service to Valletta departing Mgarr, Gozo on Saturday 3 October at 17:30. Ferry departs Terminal Valletta Cruise Port Terminal on Sunday 4 October at 01:00.

Ferry Services – Sliema / Three Cities

The ferries will operate a shuttle service from the Sliema to Marsamxett, Valletta and from the Three Cities to Lascaris, Valletta and back. Service will be extended until Sunday 4 October at 02:00.

Taxis

Taxi service will be available from the Floriana Bus Terminus.

Car Parks 

Park & Ride Blata l-Bajda, Floriana and Valletta car parks will all be in operation.

Upper Barrakka Lift

The Upper Barrakka lift will be operating free of charge from 19:00 to 02:00.

Road Closure

Roads leading to inner Valletta and the Valletta ring road will be closed for vehicular traffic except for residents.

MEDICAL SERVICES

Medical services will be provided in the following locations:

  • St Elmo Place
  • 15, Palazzo Castellania, Merchant Street Valletta (Ministry of Health)
  • Ordinance Street
  • Old Theatre Street corner with Merchant Street

Each location will have a number of ambulances and trained members of the staff who will provide the necessary help. Medical services are limited to emergency care only and urgent transportation to Mater Dei Hospital should the need arise. 

In case of a medical emergency:

  • If possible, go to the nearest medical point as indicated above.
  • Draw the attention of a roaming First aider, Police or Civil Protection personnel.
  • Call 112 and clearly indicate your name, exact location, nature of emergency and contact number.  

A note from the Civil Protection Department

The Civil Protection Department will be operating and coordinating fire, rescue and medical units on location. Several units from the Civil Protection Department will be designated in strategic positions to render emergency assistance efficiently during the whole event. 

Supporting the Civil Protection Dept will be the NGOs, the St John Ambulance and St John Rescue Corps, The Red Cross, Emergency, Fire and Rescue Unit (EFRU), the Malta Amateur Radio League (MARL), the Civil Protection Volunteers and the Department of Health.

The Civil Protection Department highly recommends that children should have a tag or bracelet with their name and the parents/carers’ mobile number in case they are lost. In such cases, children will be taken to Valletta Police Station from where the parents/carer would be contacted to pick their children from unless otherwise agreed.
