Malta features in German magazine in run up to European Film Awards
German magazine Filmecho portrays Malta as an ideal location for filming.
An article on Malta as an attractive and established location for the film industry has recently appeared in the 40th issue 2012 of the German weekly magazine Filmecho/Filmwoche - a major magazine for the film industry in Germany.
The article was published by a journalist, who recently participated in a press roundtable at the Embassy of Malta in Berlin in September with the Ambassador of Malta to Germany Karl Xuereb and Sonya Winner of Malta Enterprise promoting Malta as a filming and gaming location.
In the article the journalist highlights the favourable conditions in Malta for the film industry, such as historically and architecturally interesting locations, the large water tanks as well as incentives and services offered by the Malta Film Commission.
It highlights the big feature films shot in Malta including 'Munich' by Stephen Spielberg and 'World War Z' with Brad Pitt. The article also quotes Xuereb saying that Malta is an ideal location for the film industry given its many interesting locations, skills developed over the years and excellent lighting conditions.
During his presentation the Ambassador had also stated that Malta is delighted that it will for the first time this year host the European Film Awards "the European equivalent of the Oscars". The journalist also writes about the development of the gaming industry in Malta and the prominence of German enterprises on the island.
