Industrial production up 4.7% over August 2011
Most notable increases were the production of consumer and intermediate goods which went up by 8.2 and 3.4 per cent respectively.
Provisional seasonally adjusted data show that in August, industrial production increased by 1.0 per cent over the previous month. Over the corresponding month last year, working day adjusted industrial production went up by 4.7 per cent.
Monthly comparison: Compared to the previous month, the index of industrial production increased by 1.0 per cent to 106.9 points. All main industrial groupings except intermediate goods contributed to this increase. The production of consumer goods, energy and capital goods increased by 2.5, 1.7 and 2.5 per cent respectively. This increase was mitigated by a drop of 0.6 per cent in the production of intermediate goods.
Annual comparison: When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production increased by 4.7 per cent. All main industrial groupings registered an increase in production.
