Air Malta starts its head office move to SkyParks business centre

Air Malta’s head office will start operating from SkyParks in three weeks’ time.

Air Malta will start moving its Head Office to the SkyParks Business Centre on Monday. This transition will be completed over a two-week period with the last group moving to the new offices in the first week of December.

In a statement, the national airline said that over the last couple of weeks multiple projects and processes were undertaken including the transfer of the VOIP telephone system, the setup of a new fiber optic IT infrastructure with an increased internet bandwidth that will facilitate the transition to the new cloud based IT architecture and the internal communication of new office policies.

The new policies push forward initiatives to have a 'less paper' office and facilitate the transition to the new work environment.

This will be the second time that Air Malta will be moving its Head Office. The airline started operating from the Europa Centre in Floriana and moved to the Luqa offices in the late 1970s.

The Luqa offices were built by the Royal Air Force as sleeping quarters and have been used as offices by the airline for over 33 years. These buildings are no longer adequate for the airline's office needs and requirements.

The SkyParks Business Centre will offer Air Malta employees an open plan environment where they can work in a brand new corporate setting that enhances productivity, teamwork and improve organisational communication.

Air Malta's restructuring is not only being tackled in terms of returning the airline back to profitability but, equally important, is to change its organisational culture. Cultural transformation is a vital part in the restructuring process and this move will facilitate this change.

Air Malta's corporate and finance sections will start operating from SkyParks next Monday, 19 November, Flight Operations from 26 November whilst the Commercial and Ground Operations will move offices on the 3 December.
