Mizzi, Zammit Lewis meet Greek prime minister

Maltese maritime and transport delegation holds talks with officials from the Greek ministry for shipping, maritime affairs and the Aegean and with Cypriot Ministers

Transport Minister Joe Mizzi and parliamentary secretary for competitiveness Edward Zammit Lewis headed a government delegation of maritime experts to Athens, where they held separate meetings with Green prime minister Antonis Samaras, Minister of Shipping, Maritime Affairs and the Aegean Kostis Moussouroulis and Cypriot Minister for Communication and Works, Tasos Mitsopoulos.

The Maltese delegation also held talks with top officials from the Greek ministry for shipping, maritime affairs and the Aegean and with Cypriot Ministers. Various aspects of common interest in maritime affairs were discussed with both sides.

One of the main items on the agenda was collaboration for Blue Growth. The three countries discussed how Blue Growth can be stimulated in the three countries and how they can collaborate further in Blue Energy, aquaculture, maritime, coastal and cruise tourism, marine mineral resources and Blue biotechnology.

The Maltese delegation include Joseph Callus from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Transport and Infrastructure, Transport Malta chairperson James Piscopo and Ivan Sammut, the Registrar General of Shipping & Seamen of Transport Malta.
