The Malta Airshow rebrands

The 21st edition of the Malta International Airshow 2013 will be held on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September at the Malta International Airport. For the first time in its 21-year history, the Airshow is being rebranded to include a Title Partner in the event name. The event will be named “airX Malta International Airshow 2013”. The

The rebranding comes as a result of a partnership agreement between the Malta Aviation Society (MAS) and airX - a private air charter company operating in Malta. This agreement demonstrates a clear commitment by airX to support the growth of the Malta International Airshow and the aviation industry in Malta.

An outline of the events planned for this year's airshow was presented today by Mr Joe Ciliberti, President of the MAS and Mr John B. Matthews, Chairman of airX Charter, during a press conference held this morning at The Excelsior Hotel.

Mr Ciliberti announced that several countries have already confirmed their participation in the airX Malta International Airshow 2013 and will be sending a number of aircraft to participate in the Malta airshow, ranging from military jet fighters to cargo planes. The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) and the national carrier, AirMalta, have also confirmed their support towards the event, as well as Malta International Airport where the airshow takes place. A number of private Maltese flying schools will also exhibit their educational services and aircraft during the airshow.

Discussions on the star aerial show have reached the final negotiation stages and an announcement will be made in September. It is estimated that around 15,000 families visit the airshow every year.

"The Malta Aviation Society has worked hard throughout the year to secure a steady level of support from private enterprise in order to ensure that the airshow will continue to grow and entertain thousands of Maltese aviation enthusiasts and their families. In airX we have found the perfect partner to help us sustain the Malta International Airshow and we thank airX, as well as all other sponsors, for their continuous support", said Mr Ciliberti.

airX, a member of airX Asset Management, is a private air charter company, providing luxury private charter flights across Europe to several clients who most regularly include A-list celebrities, ranging from Hollywood movie stars to pop artists, members of royal families, top corporate executives and government ministers. The company established its operations in Malta earlier this year and it obtained its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Directorate and Transport Malta.

"airX is proud to join the growing list of aviation companies relocating their operations to Malta. This is a very proud moment for our company and we are very pleased to be the Title Partners of the Malta International Airshow 2013. We firmly believe in the potential of developing Malta as an aviation hub, and we plan to grow our presence in Malta within the aviation eco-system over the coming years" said Mr John B. Matthews, Chairman of airX Charter.

At the moment, the airX fleet includes the following aircraft:

More aircraft will be joining the airX fleet in the near future.
