Annual inflation rate at -0.1% in June
The annual inflation rate, as measured by the Retail Price Index, was 1.58% during the same month last year
In June, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index stood at -0.10 per cent, according to a report issued by the NSO.
A year earlier the annual rate was 1.58 per cent.
The largest downward impacts on annual inflation were brought about by the Water, Electricity, Gas and Fuels Index (-0.62 percentage points), the Transport and Communication Index (-0.26 percentage points) and the Food Index (-0.10 percentage points). This was mainly due to lower electricity rates, air fares and prices of vegetables respectively.
The main upward impacts were recorded in the Recreation and Culture Index (0.31 percentage points), the Beverages and Tobacco Index (0.24 percentage points) and the Household Equipment and House Maintenance Costs Index (0.23 percentage points) mainly due to higher prices of newspapers, cigarettes and furniture respectively.
