Indian pharmaceutical companies inspected by Malta Medicine Authority

Two Indian pharmaceutical companies inspected by Malta Medicine Authority and certified as being in line with EU standards

Two Indian pharmaceutical companies that import their products to Malta were inspected by the Malta Medicine Authority and recognized as employing a ‘good manufacturing practice’ in the first inspection of its sort ever conducted by the MMA for pharmaceutical companies based outside of the EU.

The two companies in question are ‘Actavis Pharma Development Centre’ and ‘S Kant Healthcare Limited’.

“Such inspections assure us that we are importing products in line with the required EU standards,” Helena Dalli, minister for civil liberties and consumer affairs, said. She explained how other EU countries also organize similar inspections.

“The increasing number of manufacturing sites that are in line with EU manufacturing standards means that more medicines are becoming available on the market. This increased competitiveness could possibly result in lower medicine costs,” Dalli said.

Representing ‘S Kant Healthcare Limited’, Samir Shah said that his company would like to open a representative office in Malta. He also said that he is open to the possibility of his company someday opening up a manufacturing branch in Malta.
