A 10-year casino concession agreement was signed today between the government and Eden Leisure Group, the company identified as the preferred bidder for a new casino concession.

Economy Minister Chris Cardona said that the government "was sending a clear message that it would continue to work to strengthen the country’s economic rhythm."

The government has also invited Dragonara Gaming Ltd, the second preferred bidder, to enter negotiations for the eventuality that a second licence is given.

Dragonara Gaming Ltd initiated court procedures after Eden was named preferred bidder, claiming that it had submitted a more favourable up-front cash consideration.

Cardona had pledged to name the members of a dissolved technical committee who, he claimed, had a conflict of interest in the evaluation of bids.
