National Statistics Office gets new director general

Reuben Fenech has been appointed as Director General of the National Statistics Office, the Malta Statistics Authority announced.

Fenech, the Authority said, has occupied various senior positions in Malta and in the UK across a wide spectrum of areas in the financial field. Fenech pioneered the Research and Statistics Unit of the Malta Stock Exchange after which stint he joined HSBC Life Assurance Malta as a Fund Manager and was eventually appointed as Managing Director of HSBC Asset Management Malta in 2009.

Fenech also held senior positions with HSBC UK in London over the last two years where he was involved in the areas of investments and retirement.

Fenech is an Economics graduate and holds an MA in European Studies. He has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2003 from the US-based CFA Institute.
