Yellow gears up for annual distribution, recycling programme

Yellow, Discover Local can proudly state that on a yearly basis it collects an average of 65,000 used directories, which are subsequently shipped abroad for recycling

Yellow, Discover Local is preparing itself for its busy annual distribution and recycling campaign. Previously known as Yellow Pages, the company has been recovering old editions of the printed directory, every autumn since 1999. Every year the company strives to improve on the numbers of used copies collected, thanks to the excellent cooperation of the Maltese and Gozitan public.

Today Yellow, Discover Local can proudly state that on a yearly basis it collects an average of 65,000 used directories, which are subsequently shipped abroad for recycling. To date, a total of 945,000 old directories have been collected over the years, which in total equate to a saving of around 1,200 tons of paper from Malta’s and Gozo’s landfills.

In view of these corporate efforts and accomplishments, the company and the directory have been repeatedly recognized by Malta’s Cleaner Technology Centre. Moreover the company was awarded an Honourable Mention in The Environment Award for Industry in 2007 and 2009, whilst it was awarded the Conservation Award for Sustainable Development in 2011.

These awards could not have possibly been achieved without the full participation of all members of the Maltese and Gozitan general public. It is hoped that such a combined effort to make our islands better and cleaner places to live in for us today and for all future generations, will this year, once again improve on the number of books collected in previous years.

During the coming weeks Yellow, Discover Local will be sending out notification flyers to all local addresses, to notify the general public of the delivery of the new directory. The flyers themselves are being printed on FSC paper, namely paper derived from 100% well managed forests.

The general public can leave the old directories on their doorsteps and company representatives will proceed with collection when they deliver the new edition on the stipulated dates as per each flyer notification.

Should anyone wish to return any old copies which are missed during collection, they are kindly invited to call on free phone 800 722 37.
