Helga Pizzuto, a warranted electrical engineer by profession, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA).

According to a statement by the ministry of social dialogue, throughout her career, Pizzuto has held a number of senior executive positions both within local industry and the public sector.

Her work included providing independent consultancy services in both technical sectors and management fields over the years, the ministry said, adding that within the public sector, Pizzuto was Head of the Management Efficiency Unit of the Government’s in-house consultancy group.

The ministry also pointed towards Pizzuto’s extensive experience in the regulatory field.

“She has held the position of Chief of Technology and Spectrum Management at the Malta Communications Authority, heading the group that was responsible for all technical decisions and compliance activities of the Authority. She also recently held the position of Chief Officer Business and Programme Development at the Malta Gaming Authority.”

It added that throughout her career Pizzuto has held a number of directorship positions.

“She is also a past president of both the Chamber of Engineers and the Malta Federation of Professional Associations.”
